DEMOLITION RECORDS: We Are Not In Talks To Sign WHITESNAKE

November 16, 2007

UK's Demolition Records has released a statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET refuting a report on the Nebusiness.co.uk web site that claimed the company was in talks to sign the classic hard rock act WHITESNAKE to a recording deal.

In the article, which was published earlier today, Ged Cooke, who runs Demolition with his brother Eric, is quoted as saying, "We are in negotiations with ZZ TOP and WHITESNAKE to sign them up. We are probably in the top four independent labels in the country and we have grown rapidly in the last seven years."

"Although we are in negotiations with several multi-platinum selling U.S. acts to add to our expanding roster, unfortunately WHITESNAKE are not one of them," Demolition writes in a statement that was sent to BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "Given the opportunity we would love to have WHITESNAKE on Demolition — they are one of our all time favourite bands and we have nothing but the highest respect and admiration for the legendary David Coverdale.

"The only reason we can think WHITESNAKE's name has been attached to Demolition Records is due to the obvious North East of England connection between the label and frontman David Coverdale's birthplace, and a local reporter being a little over zealous with his reporting of the label."

According to Nebusiness.co.uk, Ged Cooke said the business, whose clients include former VAN HALEN frontman Dave Lee Roth, has found a niche market by signing up classic rock acts whose stock may have fallen with major record labels but still have a large fan-base.

He said: "There are bands that are no longer selling millions that may have been dropped by the main record labels but we will take them on and we are a leader in that niche market.

"But we are not a classic rock label and we are also attracting young talent. So the profits we make from our big selling classic artists are reinvested into our smaller bands."
